Bible Study Week#5: HIS PURPOSE WORKED IN US
I. God has a purpose in all that He does. And because He loved us before the worlds were formed His purpose involves us!
Rom. 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose.”
He is not focused on our present pleasure. He is looking towards eternity, to produce the maximum fruit. His purpose is to cause us to bring the maximum fruit into His kingdom, to make things better for all His servants in eternity.
I Cor. 4:15-18 Paul tells us that all his sufferings…
vrse 15 “…all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
vrse 16 “for which cause we faint not…
vrse 17 “for our light affliction…worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”
vrse 18 “While we look not at the things which are seen…
The things of this time, the sufferings, the trials, the triumphs, work in us effects that produce eternal fruit. These are are all working to give all His servants a better eternity. His purposes are always eternal! Because He lives outside of time, eternity is always before Him, He is constantly aware of final outcomes.
Eph. 1:4-11
vrse 4 “according as He hath chosen us is Him…
vrse 5 “Having predstinated us unto adoption …
vrse 6 “To the praise of the glory of His grace…
vrse 7 “In whome we have redemption…
vrse 8 “Wherein He hath abounded …
vrse 9 “Having made known unto us the mystery of His will… which He hath puposed in Himself…
vrs 10 “That in the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ…
vrse 11 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance… according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things…
John 1:7 “The same (Jesus) came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through Him might believe.”
His eternal purpose is to bring all His children home.
He is focused, and never distracted from His eternal purposes.

II. His ways are not our ways. Even though we are made in
His image, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
Our thoughts are on the here and now, very limited in vision, He lives beyond infinity and in eternity!
Isa. 55:8-11
vrs 8, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways, my ways, saith the Lord,
vrs 9, “For as the heavens are higher then the earth, so are my ways than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
vrs 10, “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven…
We try to do things with thought and physical strength.
He does things by speaking them into being.
III. To fully understand how He carries out this eternal purpose
we need to understand how the Lord uses His word.
Matt. 16:13-18
vrs 13 “…Whom do men say that I am…
vrs 14 “…some say …
vrs 15 “…Whom say ye that I am?
vrs 16 “Simon Peter answered … Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
vrs 17 “…Blessed art thou Simon Barjona …
vrs 18 “…upon this rock will I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
So the hearing and obeying of word of God which comes by the Holy Spirit is the key to the kingdom.
Isa. 55:11
“So shall my word be (Jesus is the living word!)
that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but is shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it.”
As an example to us in being a servant of the Spirit
John 5:30 “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge…”
He expects us to do likewise.
John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice…”
IV. Jesus expresses fully the word of God and is God.
John 1:1-5
vrse 1 “In the beginning was the Word,…
vrse 2 “The same was in the beginning with God
vrse 3 “All things were made by Him;…
The word of God has always been the Lord’s active agent
when ever He wants something done, He sends the word.
vrse 4 “In Him was life…
3
Col. 2:9 “For in Him dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
It is His spirit that comes to us to lead us in all truth.
IV. As Jesus was sent forth, so He sends us in the power
of His word.
John 20:19-21
vrse 19 “on the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst…
vrse 20 “…He shewed them His hands and sides…
vrse 21 “Then said Jesus unto them, ‘Peace be unto you: as my father hath sent me, even so send I you.
So it is by listening and obeying His spoken word that we can bring forth the maximum fruit for the kngdom which is His eternal ultimate purpose.
But be warned
John 15:1-5
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit …
We know that He created the entire universe, all the stars and galxaies, all the plants and animals and man in just six day.
Gen. 1:31 “And God saw every thing that He had made, and behold, ist was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”
We also know that when He has gone to prepare a place for us.
John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to perepare a place for you.
He has been working on a place for us for two thousand years.
It only took three days to make th universe. He must be preparing a very fancy place.
